Data Skills for Psychology
Welcome
This is the course website for Data Skills for Psychology, developed and taught by Dr. Maureen Ritchey in the Department of Psychology at UCLA. This course will be taught in Spring 2026.
Course description
This course will provide an introduction to computer programming and its applications to psychology and neuroscience research. The goal will be to provide you with the skillset to program data analyses, as well as an understanding of how these tools are used to facilitate modern research. We will begin with the basics of how to develop algorithms and implement them with programming logic. In a series of hands-on projects, students will learn to analyze real-world psychology and neuroscience datasets using the R programming language.
Website information
On this website, you can find the course modules and assignments. We will also use BruinLearn for managing quizzes and grading.
